Manara University organizes an academic lecture on “Applications in Internet of Things"

As part of the academic activities of the Faculty of Engineering, Manara University organized an academic lecture on “Applications in Internet of Things “, presented by Dr. Ehab Al-Dibaja.

Internet of Things is considered one of the fastest growing technologies in the field of IT, in which people, gadgets, equipment, houses, transportation system and every other “thing” become interconnected via the internet, so that data can be transformed in two directions for monitoring, control or data collection purposes.
The lecturer started by introducing the concept of the Internet of Things and the ongoing race between major powers in this field. The lecture discussed the risks associated with the Internet of Things, focusing in particular on security and privacy of data and other challenges posed by this technique as a result of its overreliance on technology.
The lecture included a demonstration of the latest components and equipment, those available and unavailable in the local market, associated with this technique. The lecturer also presented some applications of his own designing, the most important of which was a project of controlling the agricultural environment for culturing and planting barley which requires the use of highly advanced sensors and around the clock observation via Internet of Things controllers.
The lecture was concluded with a note on the importance of this technique and recommended the importance of providing the necessary infrastructure so that it can be used as a tool in the process of reconstruction. The lecturer called upon the students to learn more about it both in terms of theories and applications since it combines both applications of designing and controlling circuits, web designing and designing mobile applications.
